In Dani Catalá’s studio, the piano and the synths sit just a few steps apart – and that is no accident. He first made noise with Orjazzmic, his jazz-rap fusion project that won the national Emergenza Fest final and took him to the international stage, where he realised the most interesting music happens at the borders between genres. In 2017, rapper Nach brought him in as a producer, and Dani’s jazz piano background finally collided with hip hop in a way that clicked for good. That range later landed him on the NBA2K20 soundtrack, and he has been exploring new sonic territories ever since.
